Summer blends into fall in the central plains with warm pond water and cool mornings. The humidity hangs for a little while as it condenses above the water. Fall air is cooler and dense and the sun warms upper layers before the low lands begin to move. A breeze stirs heavy vapors and swirling begins to clear at ground level.
This is a field sketch I began before the sun came up. Knowing there would be mist and thick air lighted from above in warm shades of umber and russet near the grasses
I worked quickly to capture an impression before the scene changed.
